Frequently Asked Questions
Lab-Grown vs. Mined Diamonds
The only meaningful difference is how the crystal begins its life. Mined diamonds form naturally under extreme heat and pressure far beneath the earth’s surface, whereas lab-grown diamonds are cultivated in state-of-the-art reactors that replicate those exact conditions. Because their chemical composition, hardness, and optical properties are identical, a client’s choice typically reflects personal preferences regarding provenance, sustainability, and price rather than any variation in quality.
Lab-grown diamonds are indeed genuine diamonds in every scientific sense. Independent gemological laboratories evaluate them with the same 4Cs—cut, color, clarity, and carat weight—used for mined stones. A laboratory report for a D-color, VVS2 lab-grown diamond confirms the same brilliance, dispersion, and durability as its earth-mined counterpart, and Lakshae supplies full certification with each purchase to guarantee authenticity.
There is no inherent visual advantage to either origin. Light return and scintillation depend on cut precision, symmetry, and proportion rather than on growth environment. Because laboratory conditions are highly controlled, high-clarity material can be more readily available in lab-grown form, yet Lakshae approves only those stones—lab or mined—that meet rigorous thresholds for brilliance and fire.
From an ethical and environmental perspective, lab-grown production generally involves less land disruption, lower water consumption, and reduced greenhouse-gas emissions. Responsibly sourced mined diamonds, however, support essential livelihoods in producing countries and are increasingly traceable from mine to market. Lakshae provides documented supply chains for both categories so clients can select the option that best aligns with their values.
The comparatively lower price of lab-grown diamonds reflects efficiencies in production and distribution rather than any compromise in beauty or durability. Laboratory synthesis eliminates heavy mining infrastructure and multiple intermediaries, resulting in savings of approximately 30 – 60 % for stones of equivalent grade. Lakshae passes these efficiencies directly to clients while maintaining uncompromising craftsmanship.
Future resale value for any diamond—lab-grown or mined—fluctuates with market demand, overall quality, and condition. Lab-grown stones currently trade at lower secondary-market prices, although values have risen steadily as consumer acceptance expands. Lakshae supplies comprehensive documentation and grading reports with every purchase to support appraisals, insurance coverage, and the long-term stewardship of your jewelry.
